September 12-16
Come and see what it is like to be a first grader during Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 15. First graders are learning to be responsible in the classroom and own their actions.
Spalding: Scholars
will continue to learn four to five words a day and will have 14 word spelling
list . Phonogram focus: ou, oo, sh, u, s, o, g, t, c, ei
Grammar: We will continue to distinguish the difference between common nouns
and proper nouns. Scholars will focus on capitalizing first names, cities, and
states.
In
math this week the scholars will be reviewing the main concepts covered in
chapter 2. We will be taking a test on the content covered in chapter 2 on
Friday, September 16th.
In
literature this week we will continue talking about the sequence of
events. We will be starting Frog and Toad Together and discussing the
beginning, middle, and end of the stories as well as retelling stories using
"first, next, then, last" to describe key details. We will also
continue to enjoy our poem "The Caterpillar".
History- The students will be talking about cuneiform! We
super excited, because the scholars will get to practice their name with
cuneiform symbols! We will also be learning about the Constitution.
Science- Monday is the Unit test. We will begin a new
unit called Plant and Animal Survival.
